“Life” was born in Farnworth at a club named “The Pleasuredrome”, way back in the early 90’s. It was a typical 80's style club, fancy carpet and neon lights. The club itself was smaller in size than Bowlers but many people say, that helped in creating the atmosphere and intimacy that clubbers felt when within its walls. Although “The Pleasuredrome” was an established setup, the night wasn’t doing that well, that was until a new but well known Dj took over the residency. Dj Welly became resident of “The Pleasuredrome” in 1991 and turned the night around in a relatively short space of time and the club became a massive success.

Unfortunately in early 1992, the police closed down “The Pleasuredrome”. Although the venue was lost, the spirit of “Life” was to live on.....

Mr Adam Campbell, the manager from “The Pleasuredrome” and the driving force behind “Life” promotions was determined to carry on the legacy and the hunt for a new venue, with the help of his team was on.

A statement from legendary North West Dj…….Dj Welly

“Back in April 1992, shortly after Pleasurdrome had closed down, we needed a new venue to move the night to. We hunted around for a couple of months and finally decided on this massive leisure centre in the middle of Trafford Park, Manchester.”

”This massive 60,000 SQ FT venue seemed like the perfect choice to take our 3000 +crowd (that was the Pleasuredrome) to. With a guest appearance from Carl Cox, alongside myself (DJ Welly) and Kenny Grogan, plus the quite unique MC Bibi, the night was an instant success, 4000 + clubbers continued to carry on the spirit of the Pleasuredrome”

“And that is how Bowlers began!"
Dj Welly.

Once the venue had been decided, a newsletter was sent out to over 3000 life members informing them of the opening night mentioned in Dj Wellys statement. This newsletter can be viewed in the fliers section of the homepage.
The first Life@Bowlers took place after Easter 1992. What a night! The crowd was up for it, and wanted more of the same.
It was around 11.30pm on the night of the premier event and the decision was made to try it again the following week. As the weeks went by, news spread. The crowds got bigger and bigger.

“Life@Bowlers” continued throughout the 90’s, with well known djs such as Dj Welly, Dj Stu Allan, Nipper & Bowa, to name just a few gracing the turntables. Not to mention the guest appearances from well known artists such as Luvdup, Jx, Rozalla & Baby D any many many more…..

Big names in the old skool world such as Timeless and Seduction took over at Bowlers running successful nights until the late 90's when it was decided that the club would now do monthly events held by Compulsion, organized by Dj Demand.
Bowlers played its last Rave event in August 2001, it was a Helter Skelter /Compulsion event. New management took over the venue, and declared no more dance events to be held @ Bowlers!!!
